Welcome to NoDa

NoDa! Funky - Cool - Eclectic - Artsy - Culture - Authentic!

Just a couple minutes north of the city center by car or LYNX light rail, you’ll find Charlotte’s arts and entertainment district. NoDa began as a mill village along North Davidson Street (hence the name NoDa).

This North Charlotte neighborhood began development in 1903 on rolling farmland about two miles north of the Charlotte city limits. It was conceived by the group of wealthy textile leaders of Highland Park Mill #3.

They developed a housing village for mill workers and their families, which was built across North Davidson Street from the mill. The mill housing offered a simple yet functional design. The typical house consisted of five rooms which included two bedrooms.

After the last mill closed in 1975, the neighborhood drifted, but by the late 90’s it began to see some promising signs of rebirth. Today brightly colored murals, galleries filled with local artwork, live performance spaces and more await in this hipster haven, as do ample restaurants, coffee shops, bars and breweries.

A great day in NoDa could include drinks with friends at Salud or Noda Brewing Co., or great eats as Haberdish, Cabo Fish Taco, or The Goodyear House.

In the evening catch an intimate show at The Evening Muse or a larger act that’ll entertain at The Neighborhood Theatre. These local venues host to nightly performances ranging from live music to slam poetry and stand-up comedy.

NoDa has seen a boom in residential construction in multifamily housing offering options for so many. A great place live, experience, and enjoy!
