The neighborhood is located approximately one mile to the northeast of Uptown.
 
Plaza-Midwood was first established in 1910 as a streetcar suburb of Charlotte. The Oakland Land Company was responsible for the layout of the roads within the neighborhood.
 
By 1975, the Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Association was established to protect and preserve the neighborhood.
 
Today Play Midwood is locally known as one of Charlotte's most diverse and eclectic neighborhoods. Central Ave serves as a main artery lined with art galleries, dive bars, vintage boutiques, breweries, restaurants, and other local businesses.
 
Plaza Midwood is home to Charlotte staples such as Common Market, Thomas Street Tavern, Midwood Smokehouse, and the Thirsty Beaver. Its experienced incredible growth highlighted by recent local favorites such as Resident Culture Brewery, Supperland, and Giddy Goat Coffee Roasters.
 
Plaza Midwood is home to the 19-acre Veterans Park and to the east is one of the area’s most prestigious golf clubs, Charlotte Country Club.
 
One of the South’s best-preserved Victorian houses. The gracious, tree-shaded VanLandingham Estate. The neighborhood streets are bungalows and colonials and Tudor revival houses – intermingled with duplexes and quadraplexes, and newly built homes. Like many areas close to uptown it's experiencing urban sprawl with multifamily and mixed-use development currently underway.
