ROCK AND ROLL AND A BUNCH OF SOUL

best ways to buy a home Steve Lonnen October 10, 2025

This week we took our daughter to her first ever “real” concert at PNC Pavilion.  As someone who’s always loved concerts and live music this was a proud dad (and mom) event we got to experience with her.  It got me thinking…

Did you know?  The largest concert held in the area was the August Jam in 1974.  It was hosted at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on August 10, 1974.  The outdoor rock festival reportedly drew over 200,000 people, with some estimates placing attendance at +/- 300,000. It featured bands such as; The Allman Brothers Band, Foghat, The Marshall Tucker Band, and here are the three things you need to know this week.

Find-a-Fix: Searches for “fixer-uppers” have tripled since 2021.

According to a new analysis from Realtor.com, homes marketed as “fixer-uppers” are pulling in 52% more page views than comparable older, affordable listings. Affordability pressures are causing buyers to search for “Fixer-Uppers” at a rapid pace. Here’s what you need to know about the trend. Fixer-uppers still take slightly longer to sell, averaging 53 days on market compared to 50.5 days for similar homes, but the gap has narrowed significantly since 2021.

Ditch Six: There are 6 Outdated Decor Items Designers are Begging You to Replace in 2026.

According to Cori Sears with thespruce.com home designers agree the time is up for these 6 design trends.  Here they are: faux plants, Edison bulbs, matching furniture sets, word art, gallery walls, and diamond-tufted headboards.  Now to be clear; while we parted ways with our live-laugh-love sign years ago my family and I have been or are currently in violation of at least 5 of the 6.  So I’m not casting judgement…just passing the news :)

Soft Fall:  Charlotte Ranks 12th Among 300 U.S. cities in Recent Housing Market Analysis.

WalletHub analyses cities across 17 different metrics to determine their real estate market, and affordability & economic environment.  In the recently released WalletHub analysis Charlotte, NC came in 12th overall among 300 cities for 2025; this is a drop from 2024 when the Queen City ranked 7th overall.  Charlotte, NC did rank one spot ahead  of Raleigh, NC (13th), and 3rd overall among the 68 largest cities in the U.S.

I hope you have a great weekend and remember; We’re never as great as our best day - We’re never as bad as our worst day; Be Confident - Stay Humble.
